Here are some points for those new to bodybuilding.

Do lots of research, read articles and join muscle development forums and gain as much know-how as you can.

It is worth getting a check-up from the doctor prior to starting a demanding exercise program.

Whole body workouts are probably the best option when beginning. You then progress to concentrating on specific muscle groups later. Moreover, take care to warm-up and stretch before exercise; it will help in avoiding any injuries, encouraging muscle development and keeping them flexible.

You need to eat balanced and healthy diet. Emphasize your diet on proteins, carbohydrates, and calories, but be careful to not take them in excess. Distribute your meals over the day by eating five to six meals. Have more food but do it progressively. Taking those extra meals aids bringing in extra calories and nutrients necessary for muscle growth. Make sure you consume protein in the form of eggs, meat, poultry and milk (you can also try protein supplements). You can get carbs from cereal, rice, potatoes and pasta. Use additional milk, eggs, cheese, bananas, whole grains, cereals, pasta, rice and potatoes.

Have sufficient minerals and vitamins by making sure you have plenty of fruit and vegetables. Perhaps consider a good multi vitamin/mineral formula..

Also have enough water. Avoid sweet fizzy drinks, alcohol as well as other sugary drinks. In addition, get plenty of sleep every day and have a healthy lifestyle.

Leave lots of digestion time after eating – that means at least one hour before exercising. Replenish those carbs used after your workout and soon after that eat some protein to help start repairing the muscles that were torn down when training.

If you have never visited a gym before have a personal trainer show you how the equipment works. They can also start you off with a simple plantailored for you.

It’s going to take around 2 or 3 months to start seeing results – so have patience. It is tempting to give up or change routine to something different (or even more intense) but hang in there and you’ll soon look back and be happy with the results.

Take it easy at the beginning perfecting good technique then gradually increase the weights

Doing some cardio is also of benefit. It keeps you fit and this can then help your training.

For anyone new to weight training it’s best to use machines just while you get accustomed to the motion. It’ll help prevent injury which is where a good spotter can also help.
